What size is a photo booth strip?
A standard photo booth strip is 2 × 6 inches (5.08 × 15.24 cm). At 300 PPI that is 600 × 1,800 pixels. Event photo booths usually print two identical strips side by side on one 4×6 print, 1,200 × 1,800 pixels, and cut it down the middle. Choose a 4×6 layout above to do the same, then order an ordinary 4×6 print and cut along the center.
| Format | Inches | Centimeters | Pixels at 300 PPI |
|---|---|---|---|
| One photo strip | 2 × 6 | 5.08 × 15.24 | 600 × 1,800 |
| Two strips on a 4×6 | 4 × 6 | 10.16 × 15.24 | 1,200 × 1,800 |
| Each frame, 4 photos, 24 px spacing | about 1.84 × 1.40 | about 4.7 × 3.6 | 552 × 420 |
| Each frame, 3 photos, 24 px spacing | about 1.84 × 1.89 | about 4.7 × 4.8 | 552 × 568 |
Older booths and some rental booths use other sizes, such as 1.5 × 8 inches, so check before buying frames or sleeves.
Four frames or three?
Four frames are the classic strip: each photo is a small landscape, about 4:3, so heads and shoulders fit well. Three frames are almost square and give each photo more room. Increase the spacing for a wider white border. Fill mode crops each photo around its center; fit mode keeps the whole photo with white space.
Printing and cutting
Print the 4×6 file at actual size with no borders added, then cut down the center line with a craft knife and ruler. A home printer works too: print on 4×6 photo paper and turn off “fit to page.” Each strip fits a standard photo strip frame or slips into a card.
